Beard and Hair Oils

Jojoba

Jojoba refers both to the desert plant and to the extract obtained from its seed. It is not an oil, as it doesn't contain triglycerides. Jojoba is very similar to the natural oil our skin produces and is rich in vitamin E. It is beneficial for all skin types because it is naturally moisturizing and healing, and promotes a glowing complexion. for use with acne, it is theorized that applying jojoba to the skin can trick the skin into thinking it is producing enough oil, thus balancing oil production.

Jojoba is non-comedogenic (doesn't clog pores). It also makes an excellent scalp treatment. Treating your hair with hot oil treatments from this oil suggests that your hair will tend to be more resistant to daily damage, tangles, dryness, and split ends. It penetrates pores and hair follicles rapidly to reduce water loss. It is non-greasy. It helps to lighten and heal scars. It also helps to protect against the sun's UV rays.

Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil is prepared from the endosperm of the coconut fruit. The flesh of the coconut is rich in emollient fat and when pressed, yields a white, sweetly-scented, super-moisturizing oil that is solid at room temperature but easily melts on the skin. It protects skin from the elements by forming a thin film, which is not absorbed. Coconut oil is useful as a after sun skin oil and is also revitalizing to dry, damaged hair.

Grapeseed Oil

Grapeseed oil is extracted from the leftover grape seeds as a a byproduct of winemaking. It contains vitamin E, omegas, OPC's, flavonoids, and linoleic acid which are powerful antioxidants that may induce hair growth and help prevent premature gray hair and be a remedy for baldness.

Applied directly to the scalp, grapeseed oil may prevent the production of a hormone called DHT that causes weakened hair follicles and hair loss. When adding an essential oil like rosemary, it may help to strenghth weakened and brittle hair, and restore hair growth to those who have experienced thinning or hair loss.

Moisturizing oils like olive, coconut or jojoba penetrates the hair shaft to provide moisture. Grapeseed oil is a sealant. It is an excellent natural choice that sits on top of the hairshaft to seal in moisture. It's best to use it after your hair is properly hydrated with a water-based moisturizer and a leave in conditioner before applying the oil.

It is lightweight, odorless, provides shine, fights frizz and split ends, and is beneficial for most hair types.

When massaged into the scalp, it can reduce dry, flaky scalp, and dandruff production by stimulating new, healthy cell growth.  It has anti-inflammatoary properties that help to nourish and soothe the scalp.
