What are the ingredients for Skemna products?
SKEMNA™ products are made with natural ingredients with various blends of essential oils. Our base ingredient stems from shea butter which is a powerful oil, rich in fats that is derived from the Karate tree - also known as the Shea tree. Coupled with our unique blend of essential oils, our products are the perfect solution for many hair and skin care needs and are free from toxic and cancerous additives.
Geogard ECT Preservative
We use this preservative which is a unique blend of 4 components - Benzyl Alcohol, Salicylic Acid, Glycerin, and Sorbic Acid which are well accepted in a wide range of personal care products. This antimicrobial blend offers broad spectrum protection activity against gram-positive and gram- negative bacteria, yeast, and molds. It is paraben-free and formaldehyde-free. It is considered the ideal choice for fragrance-free and fragrance-sensitive systems.
Essential Oils
Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that retain the natural smell and flavor, or essence, of their course. Makers use different methods to concentrate them into oils. They have remarkable qualities that enhance health, beauty, and well-being, helping to revitalize skin, encouraging radiance and resilience. Glycerin
(Vegetable) - Glycerin has long been studied for its moisturizing abilities. Used as a humectant (meaning it attracts moisture to the skin), solvent and emollient, glycerin absorbs moisture from the air; this ability ensures that a product stays moisturized, even if its cap is left off. Glycerin also improves the texture of products, i.e. lotions, making them smooth and spreadable.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera gel and juice is extracted from the pulp of the aloe vera plant. It has been used topically since ancient times for its skin soothing properties. We use it in creams, lotions, and topical sprays. It possesses excellent hydrating, softening and soothing properties and is believed to have healing properties, especially for sun-burned skin. Aloe vera has also been traditionally used to soothe and alleviate discomfort associated with dry skin, psoriasis, dandruff, minor burns, skin abrasions, insect bites, and allergic reactions. We use it in creams, lotions, and topical sprays.
Benzyl Alcohol
Benzyl alcohol is produced naturally by many plants and is considered to be a safe ingredient used in cosmetics and skincare products to improve the scent, texture, and to increase the longevity of the formulation and is found in many essential oils. It is used as a preservative making it hard for bacteria to grow. It is used as an emollient to soften and soothe the skin.
Shea Butter, Refined
Shea butter is derived from the nut of the fruit of the Karite tree in Africa. It contains a huge concentration of natural vitamins A, E, F and fatty acids that make it incredibly nourishing and moisturizing for skin. It has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps with dry skin, burns, sores, scars, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, dandruff, and stretch marks. It easily penetrates the skin allowing it to breathe. This butter melts gently into your skin leaving it silky soft, glowing, looking younger, and hydrated all day. It's perfect for all skin types. Cocoa Butter, Refined
Cocoa Butter, obtained from cocoa beans and having a slight chocolate odor, is extracted from the seed kernels and is further refined and deodorized to yield an ultra white colored butter with little odor. Cocoa butter contains natural antioxidants. It helps with dry or itchy skin, stretch marks, skin elasticity, holding moisture in the skin, easing wrinkles, fading scars and burn marks. This butter is great for its softening and skin-healing properties.
